These videos are excellent video for education! Part 1 contents are enough for high school class room observation, accessory plates are not necessary in middle schools.

Basic concepts are
-Beck line (refraction index; high or low)
-Birefringence (interference colors)
-Extinction angle
-Pleochroism
-Cleavages
-Forms etc.
But these features are just found in nearly 0.03mm thickness of thin section, while other thickness is not suitable for observation.

Also, the following videos show fundamental features of minerals and rocks (these are suitable for beginners more advanced study)
